"A taste of Switzerland"

3 days tour starting Friday 25th of June 2010   


Day 1 Geneva – Bern


Bern
 With a tour bus and Kuoni Tour Director, leave Geneva and follow the lake to Lausanne. A stop is made for an optional visit of the Olympic Museum, before we continue through the wine yards to Montreux, famous for it’s location on lake Geneva, the annual Jazz Festival and the nearby Château Chillon. We stop at the castle for a visit, before we continue to Gruyères. Here, at this medieval village we find the western Swiss cheese production and we’ll visit a show cheese dairy. After some free time, we continue to the Swiss capital, to Bern for dinner and overnight.
 
 
 
 
             

 

 


Day 2 Bern – Jungfrau Joch - Interlaken


 

INterlakenFollowing a brief orientation tour of Bern, where your tour director will show you the new bear pit, as well as the arcaded alleys and the federal building, we proceed to Lauterbrunnen. Here, we board the cogwheel train which takes us via Wengen to kleine Scheidegg at the foot of the Jungfrau Joch, the Eiger North Face and the Mönch. We now continue by train, mainly inside the mountain to the ‘Top of Europe’ the Jungfrau Joch at 3’454 meters above sea, the highest train station in Europe. Weather permitting, we’ll enjoy fantastic views over the glaciers and we’ll visit the ice cave. The return journey, by train via Kleine Scheidegg takes us to the ski resort of Grindelwald, before we continue to Interlaken for the dinner and overnight.

 

 


Day 3 Interlaken – Lucerne - Geneva


          

LucernWe leave Interlaken this morning and follow the shores of Lake Brienz. In Brienz, we visit one of the last woodcarvers in Switzerland, before we continue via the Brünig Pass to Alpnachstad on Lake Lucerne. Here, we board a lake steamer for our cruise of about 1 hour, to Lucerne in central Switzerland. With our tour director, we discover Lucerne with it’s impressive old town, the wooden bridge and Lion monument. Later on, we return to Geneva, where we arrive towards evening.
